On this day in 1976, The Song Remains the Same was released, accompanied by a soundtrack album on which I worked with Eddie Kramer.

When we viewed the initial concert footage we realised that not all of the vocals were covered visually in the verses. We remedied that by doing a re-shoot at Shepperton Studios and furthered the idea of the fantasy sequences. There would be a sequence for each of us, which would reflect our individual personalities.

Under the circumstances of Robert’s accident in 1975, suddenly it became quite attractive to finish it so that we had something to put out while he was continuing his recuperation.
