We had rehearsals in Puddletown in Dorset for what became Houses of the Holy. I already had some songs under my belt. I had The Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song, the two tracks that sequenced together at the beginning of the album.

Recorded December 1971 to August 1972 using the Rolling Stones Mobile at Stargroves and Headley Grange and at Island and Olympic Studios in London, with engineers Eddie Kramer, George Chkiantz and Keith Harwood. Released 26 March 1973 in the UK and 28 March in the US.
