In my opinion the only good thing on our version was the backwards echo. Mickie recorded it with brass on a separate overdub section. I thought, ‘Well, how are we going to disguise this brass? I know, I’ll use that backwards echo that I tried at home.’ And it stayed there on this awful song.

Released in October 1967 on Epic, produced by Mickie Most at De Lane Lea. JP introduced backwards echo to the A-side to disguise the brass overdub, a technique he would subsequently use in Led Zeppelin. The B-side Drinking Muddy Water featured guest pianist Ian Stewart of the Rolling Stones, recorded in the same session.
